Stats
How the Toxoplasma gondii gene cards break down across strains and against other organisms, how many of them carry a literature annotation, and what the extracted findings look like.
| Strain | Cards | Annotated |
|---|---|---|
| ME49 | 516 | 8 |
| GT1 | 467 | 1 |
| RH88 | 686 | 10 |
| VEG | 433 | 2 |
A card groups the loci of one gene across strains by synteny and reciprocal best hit. Single-strain cards are not all strain-specific genes: they include paralog copies and gene models from separate strain annotations (RH88 has its own). rRNA copies are split out because the genome carries many rRNA loci and nearly all of them have literature. Annotated = at least one finding from the reading pass.
A link is a confident one-to-one ortholog: Plasmodium from OrthoMCL groups, human by reciprocal best hit against the human proteome. Both are computed mainly from the ME49 gene: of the 2,155 cards without an ME49 locus, 0 have a Plasmodium link and 7 a human link. No confident 1:1 link means no such match was found — not that the gene is unique to Toxoplasma.
Assigned per finding by the reading pass from method tier and weight of evidence. High = direct biochemical/structural/genetic proof; Low = single-paper observational claim.
≥ 2020: 1,412 findings (37.7% of dated). 1 finding dated after 2026 is not shown: a future year is an extraction error.
